1. Can I download Z5 Mobile for iPad and iPhone now?

2. What is Z5 Mobile for iPad and iPhone?

Z5 Mobile allows you to make and receive both point-to-point and VRS calls on iOS devices. It turns iPad (2 or newer), iPhone 4s (or newer) or iPod Touch (4th Generation or newer) into a mobile videophone.

3. Can I use Z5 Mobile to make calls to a VP-200® and ntouch™?

Yes! Z5 Mobile can both make calls to and receive calls from VP-200® and ntouch™.

4. How much does the Z5 Mobile app cost?

There is no charge to download or to use the Z5 Mobile app. Go to Apple’s iTunes store and search for Z5 Mobile to download and install the app on your iPad (2 or newer), iPhone (4 or newer) or iPod Touch (4th Generation or newer).

5. Can Z5 Mobile be used with ANY iOS device?

No. Z5 Mobile can be used ONLY with iPad (2 or newer), iPhone (4s or newer) or iPod Touch (4th Generation or newer). If you try to install Z5 Mobile on other versions of iPad, iPhone or iPod devices, the application will inform you that the device is not compatible.

6. What do I need to make Z5 Mobile calls?

7. Can a hearing person make calls to a deaf person that is using Z5 Mobile?

Yes! Z5 Mobile is designed to allow a deaf person to both make and receive ZVRS calls, just like our Z5 Desktop app for PC or Mac computers. The hearing person will use voice in the usual manner without using Z5 Mobile. Only the deaf person needs the Z5 Mobile for such calls.

8. Can I make a point-to-point call to a videophone using Z5 Mobile?

Yes! Z5 Mobile is designed to allow you to both make and receive point-to-point calls with other videophones, just like our Z5 Desktop app for PC or Mac computers.

9. Does Z5 Mobile have voice carry-over (VCO) capabilities?

Yes! Because our VCO Plus service uses single-line technology, you can use the microphone/speaker of your iOS device to make and receive VCO calls.

10. Can I make HolaVRS calls using Z5 Mobile?

Yes! Z5 Mobile is designed to allow you to both make and receive HolaZVRS calls, just like our Z5 Desktop app for PC or Mac computers.

11. Will Z5 Mobile work with 911?

Yes! Z5 Mobile supports automatic 911 calls. It works with any valid 3-digit phone number (such as 411 or 511). In fact, Z5 Mobile has a dedicated 911 button for emergency calls. You can press the “911” button in the left side navigation bar or manually dial “911” from the keypad.

12. I have Z5 Desktop. Do I need to get a different phone number for Z5 Mobile?

No. You can have a single number for people to reach you through Z5 Mobile OR Z5 Desktop.

13. How do I set up avatars (pictures) for my contacts in the Address Book?

Click on the avatar of a contact entry to see two options for adding a picture: take a picture or use one from your library. After taking a picture or selecting one from your library, tap “Save.”

14. Can I use my iOS device’s Contacts, as well as Contacts from my Z Profile?

Yes. You can make calls using both your iOS device’s Contacts and Contacts from your Z Profile.

15. Can I set up frequently used contacts so that they are easier to access, like speed dial?

Yes, you can! Simply click the star in a contact, and that contact will become one of your “Favorites.” Then, when looking at your contacts, you can select the “Favorites” view to show ONLY the contacts you’ve selected. This makes it easier and faster to find frequently used contacts.

17. Why doesn’t Number Lookup show my current location?

Please make sure GPS is turned on in your device.

18. Where do I find Number Lookup?

Please tap the menu (3 lines) button on the top-left corner of Z5 Mobile. You will then see Number Lookup on the list.

19. How can I order a Firefly for my iPad?

20. Why is my screen black during calls?

When we install Z5 Mobile, sometimes we accidentally choose the option that does NOT allow Z5 Mobile to access the device’s camera. To fix this, please get in your device’s Settings, then tap Privacy, Camera. You will see an option to turn your camera ON.

21. Why can’t the VI or hearing person hear me, even when I am not muted?

When we install Z5 Mobile, sometimes we accidentally choose the option that does NOT allow Z5 Mobile to access the device’s microphone. To fix this, please get in your device’s Settings, then tap Privacy, Microphone. You will see an option to turn your microphone ON

22. Why does Number Lookup show the USA and not my local area?

When we install Z5 Mobile, sometimes we accidentally choose the option that does NOT allow Z5 Mobile to access the device’s GPS. To fix this, please get in your Settings, then tap Privacy, Location Services, then Z5 Mobile. Change the option to Always.

23. I have an iPhone 4. Can I use Z5 Mobile on it?

Please call Customer Care at 866.932.7891 to get an earlier version of Z5 Mobile.
